We seek a dynamic Sales Manager who will lead our clients Sales team to achieve and exceed sales targets. This food industry role involves implementing effective strategies and fostering a high-performance culture within our clients team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and nurture the Sales team to deliver on budget targets.
  • Monitor, assess, and document performance against targets, tracking volume, value, and timelines.
  • Motivate and inspire the team to exceed expectations and targets in all areas.
  • Lead the forward FY guidance document, ensuring accurate monthly lock-downs in collaboration with the commercial team, and prepare monthly leadership reports.
  • Ensure timely and accurate internal reporting measures, delivering key metrics monthly.
  • Gather data to understand current and future customer needs, identifying opportunities for growth and market expansion.
  • Drive sales growth in targeted new market areas aligned with the Sales Strategy.
  • Support the sales team in creating new opportunities from the existing customer portfolio.
  • Update photo visions of all current customers biannually and identify new customers collaboratively with the sales team, including PSIR documents and targeted customer plans for sales growth.
  • Collaborate with the sales and finance teams regarding DSO, credit limits, overdue accounts, ensuring all SOPs are met and debtors are minimised.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams/meetings, representing the customer’s viewpoint on quality, costs, delivery times, and pricing.
  • Lead the sales team to meet Green-Bar CTO across all technologies, championing concession requests into HOS, and working with the C&I and operations teams to cost engineer current and new product SKUs.
  • Ensure adherence to all Sales SOPs.
  • Provide timely commercial reporting (internal and external) for all customer interactions, both existing and potential, across the sales team.
  • Support the Head of Sales in updating the long-term growth strategy, aligning it with customer feedback and opportunities identified by the team.
  • Work with the sales team to minimise uncommitted saleable inventory, targeting below 5% of total inventory.

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum 5-10 years experience in business development and sales expansion/management, particularly in growth scenarios, with a proven track record of winning business from high-calibre customers.
  • A third-level qualification is desirable.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving, demanding, and intense environment.
  • Proven experience in business development and sales expansion/management.
  • Culinary/kitchen/back-of-house experience is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the Stock/Sauce/Fluids/Butter market in the UK and Ireland is desirable.
  • Extensive experience in the B2B and food service markets, with pre-existing relationships in these sectors.
  • Strong commercial acumen and numeracy skills, with the ability to price products effectively.
  • Highly motivated and resilient.
  • Capable of managing, evaluating, and reporting on a geographically diverse sales team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with solid IT proficiency.
  • Experience in an international environment, with a track record of winning and maintaining new accounts.
  • Strong analytic and planning skills.
  • Proven ability to sell solutions rather than off-the-shelf products.
  • Good understanding of technical and quality matters, and best practices in the food industry.
  • Strong IT and spreadsheet skills, with attention to detail.
  • Capable of hands-on problem-solving, with the ability to generate suggestions and solutions.
  • A mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Proven customer management skills, with a positive attitude to dealing with people.
  • Confident negotiator, capable of closing deals.
  • Team player with openness, customer orientation, commercial focus, honesty, integrity, and loyalty.
  • Organised, structured, approachable, objective, flexible, and dynamic.
