Storm Recruitment is delighted to be working with one of Europe’s leading tourism companies with a HQ based in Dublin City Centre, Due to major company growth they are looking to expand their team by hiring a Procurement Department supervisor.
Based in Dublin and reporting directly to the Procurement Department Manager, your primary focus will be on supporting the business in securing and effectively managing all inventory required to operate smoothly.
Your responsibilities will encompass supervising and allocating daily team activities, offering guidance and support, overseeing daily and weekly procurement tasks for accuracy, and driving performance to achieve departmental objectives.
This full-time role requires a commitment of 5 days a week on a hybrid basis, at least 3 days in the office, some weekends will be required after the initial 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Supervision
- Assist in recruiting, coaching, motivating, and managing a team of high-performing buyers engaged in acquiring sought-after items within intense, fast-paced procurement periods.
- Cultivate a positive and collaborative team culture, fostering open communication and teamwork.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to forecast procurement needs and set buyer targets.
- Ensure procurement and inventory optimisation goals are met within budget, implementing controls to minimise errors and maximise item acquisition.
- Allocate tasks and prioritise workloads for optimal coverage, resource utilisation, and emergency troubleshooting.
- Manage team shift schedules.
- Conduct regular team meetings for updates, best practice sharing, and addressing challenges.
- Monitor team performance, offering individual feedback, coaching, and training for continuous improvement.
- Serve as the escalation point in the absence of the Department Manager.
Operational Support:
- Establish processes and controls to minimise errors and maximise accuracy.
- Collaborate with the Procurement Manager to identify process improvement opportunities and support their implementation to enhance procurement efficiency.
- Optimise procurement strategies, adapting to evolving procedures and competitive buying conditions.
- Document procurement processes and procedures for knowledge and consistency.
- Oversee and support the team during critical procurement events.
- Handle escalations and resolve procurement-related issues promptly.
Metrics and Reporting:
- Assist in developing and monitoring key metrics and KPIs to track team performance, identify trends, and address performance gaps.
- Generate reports and provide routine updates to the Department Manager regarding team performance and operational metrics.
- Analyse data to pinpoint opportunities for process optimisation, resource allocation, and productivity enhancement.
What Are We Looking For?
- A minimum of 3 years of prior experience as a supervisor/team lead, demonstrating strong coaching, capacity planning, and day-to-day task and performance management skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities to handle complex procurement and inventory management scenarios.
- Demonstrated composure under pressure and adeptness in crisis leadership, including the ability to handle escalations and guide the team toward solutions.
- A strong target-driven mindset and a proven track record of leading teams to meet quotas and targets.
- Proficient analytical skills, including the ability to assess, analyse, and present data trends to key stakeholders.
- A keen eye for detail and comfort in working with numerical data from diverse sources.
- Positive attitude with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Experience within the Procurement or related industry preferred, although candidates from all industries are welcome.
