This role is based in Naas, Kildare and the working hours are 9:00am-17:00pm. The salary for the role is 30k-35k DOE.

Primary Duties:

The responsibilities linked with this position encompass a wide range of tasks, including but not restricted to:

  • Collaborating to foster a robust culture of health and safety in the workplace by maintaining a comprehensive system for reporting near misses and hazards. This involves consistent interaction and communication with the EHS Manager and representatives from various departments.
  • Participating in safety audits and ensuring compliance. Conduct regular safety inspections, generate reports, aid in the implementation of corrective and preventive actions, and work closely with department representatives to facilitate the resolution of highlighted issues. Additionally, provide assistance to the EHS Manager in preparing for external compliance audits.
  • Assisting in coordinating the scheduling of both new and ongoing safety-related training requirements. Ensure timely review and delivery of all mandatory training. Contribute to the creation and dissemination of health and safety communications, such as toolbox talks and safety alerts, to proactively drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Aiding in the management of emergency preparedness arrangements across the site, encompassing areas like fire safety, chemical safety, and work-related vehicles.
  • Supporting the engineering department in overseeing the Contractor Management Programme for the site. This includes delivering training on contractor requirements to all contractor managers, maintaining updated contractor information, conducting audits of approved contractors and their operations, and reviewing pertinent safety documentation to ensure alignment with site and legal mandates.
  • Collaborating on the compilation of daily safety management statistics for the senior management team. These statistics will identify improvement opportunities and current trends.
  • Assisting in coordinating site-specific environmental safety and sustainability procedures to ensure adherence to legal and best practice standards. Regularly update environmental metrics and maintain communication with the EHS Manager on a weekly basis to identify avenues for ongoing enhancement and growth.

Qualifications/Competencies/Experience:

  • Possession of a relevant degree qualification is mandatory.
  • Ideally, candidates should have completed a college work placement within the realm of health and safety.
  • Proficiency in communication to effectively convey safety protocols and regulations.
  • Strong aptitude for using computer applications and MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a valuable team contributor.
  • Exceptional administrative and literacy skills for compiling and generating reports.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • A balanced blend of assertiveness and consultative capability when working with department managers to enforce regulations when required.
